NaNoWriMo 2010: Day 1

I'm pretty happy. I did a lot of dicking around early in the evening, and this is after a 4:30 dental appointment that took forever (first cleaning in four years, but no cavities, hurrah!) and picking up windows at the hardware store.

So I have the first two scenes written, and I'm not entirely sure my narrator is sustainably smartass enough to go with the first paragraph, but then again, I'm not sure the first paragraph matches the theme of the novel. I also clearly need to get a better map of Indianapolis if I'm going to set a novel in the city again, because I don't know downtown well enough.

Anyway. I'm calling it a night, and I'm pretty pleased.

Yay!!! Way to go!

I'm currently at 0. But I'll hopefully make up for that tomorrow.

I would go crazy without Google Maps and Google Earth when it comes to settings. In fact, Google Earth is partly to blame for my 0 word count. Well, not to blame. I was just screwing around with pegging down my setting instead of writing about it. Heh.

Keep up the good work! :)

YOU CAN DOOO EEEEEET!

Google Earth is one of the many banes of my writing time. LOL But at the same time, it's so useful to see what the setting is like or refresh your memory!

I got this one here: http://www.writertopia.com/toolbox

There are others, including one on the NaNo website, but since that website is often down at the beginning of the month, I don't use it early on at least. *G*

Hey, check out the article I just posted on LJ that this bitchy woman wrote at Salon about NaNo being a waste of time. I just blasted her back with a letter to the editor.
